“Gorgeous hair is the best revenge.”~ Ivana Trump
Hair care…it can be a touchy subject. Everyone has their favorite products and appliances and certain regiments they follow to get their signature look. I personally have my favorite blow dryer, flat iron, and hair brush. God forbid I’m forced to use one other than my own! One thing I don’t use often though is hair rollers. The reason is because I’ve never really had great luck with any of the ones I’ve tried in the past. One of two things usually happens – I get great results but they’re a huge hassle to use, or they are super user friendly but the results leave much to be desired. Neither of which is the optimal outcome. Because of that, I simply don’t use hair rollers much…well, ever really.
Now, for me to change my mind I would need just a few things out of a set of rollers:
- They are user friendly (I do not need them to be 700 degrees or require 72 clips that get tangled in my hair to make them work)
- They do not damage my hair by using them (I don’t want it broken, fried, or pulled out, I just want it curled)
- They curl my hair (pretty obvious request right?)
- They are made of rainbows and Unicorn horns (okay I may have made that up on the fly – I would never harm a Unicorn by using them for products or product testing!)
You may already be thinking that I am sharing all of this with you because I was given the opportunity to test out some hair rollers of some sort and you are correct! I have had the privilege of trying out some pretty nifty silk hair rollers from Kimble Beauty.
“It is Kimble’s belief that style and healthy hair maintenance should coexist. Achieving a look of style should not be at the sacrifice of hair’s own beauty and health. Kimble Beauty™ is a line created true to the concept of beautiful style and healthy hair. With its performance-tested formulas and quality ingredients, hair has the freedom to be styled without hesitation. While the diverse and versatile products can help achieve any desired look, the also treat and nourish the hair. Simply put, Kimble Beauty™ delivers great-looking uncompromised hair.”
Now this sounds like something I can totally get on board with! I guess the lingering question then, is do these silk covered hair rollers stand up to my previously mentioned requirements? I will say that the rollers were super user friendly and the silk covering was a great. Silk helps maintain healthy looking hair by minimizing friction and preventing natural oils from depleting so after using the rollers, my hair didn’t feel dry and brittle like it has from time to time in the past. Because of that I didn’t feel like I was suffering from unnecessary breakage and my hair slid right off of the rollers instead of getting yanked out of my head. The lace silk slumber cap that they included also allowed me to leave the rollers in overnight without them rubbing around on the pillow and getting pulled out. And guess what? They curled my hair! Unfortunately, these hair rollers were not made from rainbows and unicorn horns, but that’s a pretty tall order and three out of four certainly isn’t bad! As you can see my hair is pretty short, and I do think these would work best on longer hair, but they did what they were designed to do — they curled my hair without breakage or dryness. I can definitely say I will use these rollers again.

June 30, 2014 at 7:30 pmHow pretty! I have naturally curly hair but I just want it to have a little vine with curls. I wonder if it would look ok if I was, blow dry, straighten, then curl using these. Ya think that’s be too much? Thanks for sharing! I’m in need of new styles for a new do.

June 30, 2014 at 7:56 pmThat’s exactly what I did Leslie – blow dried it straight (well relatively straight lol) and then put the curlers in — I bet it would work!
