Paula Dorf Aztec City Eyeshadow Palette

November 25, 2014 by Alison 7 Comments

I received complimentary products from Brand Backer & Paula Dorf Cosmetics to facilitate my review. All opinions and my love for makeup are 100% my own.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’m a bit of a make-up junkie. I’m especially drawn to eye shadows. I mean I really do love makeup in general and experimenting with new things, but I have a ridiculously large number of amazing eye shadow palettes…I seriously should never have to buy eye shadow again, but do you think that stops me? Nope…when I see something new I have to try it. Thanks to Brand Backer, I recently had the opportunity to try the Aztec City Palette and Teal Lash Color from Paula Dorf Cosmetics.

About the Product

From the desert sand to the crisp blue sky this Aztec City Palette has it all! Each of the five shades included in this palette are stunning and have just the right balance of professional and flirty. The sleek mirrored case also contains a specially designed double-ended brush for the perfect application.

I absolutely love the blue shade in this palette. It’s a neutral blue, and not one I would have probably chose on my own, but now that I’ve had the chance to try it, I absolutely love it. It has somewhat of an iridescent shimmer but I wouldn’t necessarily put it in the shimmer shadow category…weird right? Just try it and you’ll see what I mean. The nudes in this palette are great too. They work fabulously for contouring, and also can create a beautiful smokey eye.

The Aztec City Palette also includes a double-ended brush. Usually the brushes that come with the palettes are kind of “meh”…you know, nothing special and sometimes they’re really horrible.  I must say that I really do like the double-ended brush that is included with this palette. It really does grab the eye shadow and works well as not only an eye shadow brush, but  a blending brush, and I think it would even work well as an eyeliner brush although I haven’t tried it as that yet.

I love the Lash Color in teal. I normally wear black mascara, but this color is really fun. It’s not so bold that you look clownish (but keep in mind I have jet black lashes so on someone lighter colored lashes the color would likely be more bold). The brush is decent, it separates lashes and there were no clumps or issues with application.

If you can’t wait to get your hands on one of these pallets for yourself, check out the Paula Dorf online store and make sure you use code TEAL at checkout for your Paula Dorf Teal Mascara free with purchase!

What eye shadow and lash colors do you gravitate toward? Do you think you would find this palette to be a welcome addition to your makeup arsenal? Why or why not? Let me know in the comments below and thanks for reading!

I thought I was going to feel that way at first, but I decided some of the shades, even though a little more muted than what I would normally wear were kind of nice for those days when I didn’t want to wear a lot of makeup (which I’ll admit is rare lol), but still wanted to do something with myself. My fave is definitely the blue, but I like the lighter shades for a base and blending too.

I love the look of that blue shadow, and that teal mascara as well!

The palette looks amazing and love the colours, I gravitate more towards darker colours but not black more browns etc. The double edged brush is so cute overall this palette looks great

Can you believe I’d never heard of this brand before? But these colors are really pretty…. Even when I wear full makeup – which is rare these days – I’m not talented with eyeshadow at all! I can pretty much only use really light, muted, shimmery colors I can just sort of sweep on – these look perfect!

And I will definitely have to check out that one that stops the feathering of the lipstick, that’s ALWAYS an issue for me!
