Long story short…I had super long hair. Super long super thick hair if you ask my stylist. One day about a year ago, maybe a little longer, I decided that I wanted to do something different and I chopped it all off…like super short.
So, after about a year rockin the short hair, which I love, I decided I wanted long hair again. What I really want is short when I want it and long when I want it but alas, it doesn’t really work that way. When it’s short the way I like it, it’s too short to even use clip in ponytails or any type of extensions so I decided that I’d start growing it out. Grow out sucks…plain an simple. I feel like my hair is perpetually in some awkward teenage phase where I can do absolutely nothing cute to it. Too short to pull back, too long to spike up….basically just a never ending bad hair day. Lots of headbands and bandannas have been worn let me tell you — which is cool because that just so happens to be one of my signature looks.
Now we’re finally grown out enough to pull it back around the house, but not long enough to actually be cute, so I decided I wanted extensions. Yes I’m a little impatient and I wanted my long hair back RIGHT NOW! So, my fabulous stylist hooked me up with these little beauties. (If you’re from Yakima, you should definitely check out Daytra at Hair Cafe’ and her hair scorcery – it’s truly magical.)
Here’s what my hair looks like before extensions. (Just disregard the fact that I had hubby snap this photo in my kitchen while I was trying to cook dinner.)
Now they’re weren’t cheap but as I change my mind on hair color, which is often, we can dye them to match. They wash, dry, curl, and style just like your own hair, and look how fabulous they look when I put them in. I mean hell, they even make me look put together in a hoodie or plaid. Winning!
I also ran across some colored extensions that are fun to put in for a bolder statement from time to time. I actually was able to get these for free in exchange for a review, which is cool. They’re definitely fun and it’s nice to do something a little different every once in a while! Now these aren’t as expensive or dyed to match, you can pick them up on Amazon for under $15, but they sure look cute when you put them in!
So there you have it, my hair journey over the past few years. Latelty I’ve been feeling the urge to chop it all again, but maybe I’ll just go platinum instead. I never really know for sure until I have my butt in the chair!
How do you wear your hair? Is it something you change frequently or have you had the same style since you were born? Have you ever tried extensions? If you could pick any hairstyle and knew for a fact it would look amazing on you, what would you try? Let me know in the comments below and thanks for reading!
