Wow…that’s what I kept thinking the whole time I was in Scottsdale, AZ a couple weeks ago for the Mom 2.0 Summit. It was only my second conference ever and it was awesome! My long time friend and bloggy buddy Meagan from Sunshine & Sippy Cups traveled together and roomed together with two other amazing gals, Heather from United States of Motherhood and Jana from Merlot Mommy. If I took nothing else away from this experience, I met some amazing people and made some awesome new bloggy friends and that is worth its weight in gold.
But enough about that, how was the conference you ask? Did I say awesome?! The location was beautiful – the views from the grounds at the Phonecin Resort and the room were some of the most gorgeous I’ve ever seen.
There was a very swanky opening dinner and party on the lawn Wednesday night. And Thursday we woke up for breakfast and the opening Keynote speaker, Molly Ringwald. I knew she was an amazing actress, but after hearing her speak, she’s also an amazing person, beautiful inside and out, which is fitting since the premise surrounding the whole conference was Dove’s Beauty Story campaign. I have to admit, the swag was awesome. I’m pretty sure my family thinks I’ve finally made it since I brought home a ton of Lindt Truffles. Sadly, I’m eating the last one…or two, maybe three as I write this.
Thursday there were several sessions, workshops, and of course meeting various sponsors. There was so much to do and choices had to be made. I think everyone wished they could have done everything. Thursday evening was another evening reception and then we hopped on a shuttle to Old Town Scottsdale where we had dinner and then headed back to the resort.
Friday morning was another breakfast buffet and once again off to sessions, speakers and workshops. Dove was doing hair that day so of course I had to take them up on that offer! Plus it was the perfect stop before I headed over to have a new headshot taken by Kia!
On Friday night we went to the Iris awards. I think I was probably the most casually dressed gal there, but I think my trusty Chucks were definitely the fanciest Converse on the red carpet! Nobody cared if I was wearing jeans or a ball gown though because we were there to honor some amazing blogs and bloggers. I laughed, I cried (just a little…more like a sinffle), I danced. It was an awesome way to end the conference.
Oh, in case you’re wondering, it was freaking hot in Arizona…like over 100 degrees. But it’s okay because apparently its a dry heat. Overall, it was an amazing experience…so much so that my roomies and I have all already purchased our tickets for next year!! Only 300 and some odd days to go! Now…I better start figuring out what to wear…
