Every home tells a story and scents can trigger powerful memories. What do the holidays smell like? Have you ever thought about it? To me the holiday’s smell like apple cinnamon, pumpkin pie, and Christmas cookies; a wiff of pine here and there and of course the smell of the fireplace burning. For someone else the holiday’s might smell like turkey cooking and some peppermint hot cocoa. But what do the holiday’s smell like for those that are away or that do not have a home of their own? That’s not something you’ve ever really thought about is it?
The holidays are the happiest time of year for most people. It’s hard to be too sad and lonely with family, festivities, and giving; but for some, this very same season can be the most depressing of all. To those who cannot be home with friends and family, or for those without a home of their own to decorate, celebrate, and fill with the scents of the season, the holiday’s are nothing to get excited about. That’s where Air Wick is stepping in. To celebrate its Life Scents Holiday Collection, Air Wick is launching its Give the Gift of Home campaign which includes a donation of $250,000 through a portion of its profits to benefit families in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. Now that is truly an amazing gift.
There’s no purchase necessary for this donation to happen, but trust me, you’re going to want to pick up a few of this seasons scents. For one, I love to support brands like AirWick who are doing something to help others and giving back to their communities. Second, Air Wick’s new Life Scents Collection features the first-ever constantly changing fragrances and is the perfect way to outfit your home this holiday season. With scents like Spiced Apple Crumble (quite possibly my favorite and what is currently burning in my home), Snowflake Vanilla Cookie, Emerald Woodland (smells just like Christmas!) and Berry Cool Winer there’s no doubt that you’ll find something that makes your house smell like home. It sure set the tone for the season in mine!
Still don’t think something like a scent can be so important? Take a few moments to watch this video and then let me know how you feel. I would suggest making sure nobody is cutting onions nearby when you watch this because it give you all the feels. I have to admit, I was feeling pretty nostaglic and maybe even teary eyed which I finshed watching it.
What is your favorite holiday scent? Is there a smell that reminds you of home? Let me know in the comments below and thanks for reading!

November 11, 2015 at 12:51 pmNo particular scent reminds me of home–but I do love the scent of apples or pies baking in the oven. I will be getting at least one of these when I see them! I love that the company is going to give whether we purchase or not–now that is truly giving!
