There’s so much that is great about March – spring, warmer weather, Easter, and since I live with boys, that means there’s some basketball in my life. You know what that means – the Taste the Madness basketball tournament. One cannot simply sit down and watch basketball though, especially during The Big Tournament – there is a lot of preparation and planning that goes into it. Now the following of games and filling out of brackets is the responsibility of the males in the household. My job is to ensure that there is adequate snackage prepared to feed the savages during said games.
Since you cannot partake in basketball watching shenanigans without copious amounts of food, before all else, a run to Safeway is in order to load up on some of our favorites like OREO cookies and Coca-Cola Zero™.
This year the treat round-up includes deliciciousness like cupcakes and Candy Dipped OREO cookies (which I’m going to show you how to make), and of course Coke Zero to wash it all down.
Candy Dipped OREO Basketballs
These Candy Dipped OREO Basketballs are super easy to make, great for getting the crowds excited and pretty darn delicious to eat.
Supplies
(1) package OREO cookies (any variety)
(1) Package Orange Candy Melts
(1) Package Chocolate Melts 0r Chocolate Chips
(1) Wax Paper
Step 1: Crack open a Coke Zero to enjoy while you’re preparing this amazing creation.
Step 2: In a microwave safe bowl, melt a package of orange candy melts (available at most craft stores and some grocery baking sections). For a complete package I usually warm on high for 1 minute, stir, and warm an additional 30 seconds on high.
Step 3: Dip OREO Cookies in melted coating, covering completely and place on wax paper to harden.
Step 4: In microwave safe bowl, melt chocolate melts or chocolate chips. Once melted scoop into frosting pen (a ziplock bag with corner cut works as well if frosting pen is not available).
Step 5: Once orange candy coating has hardened, use chocolate to drizzle basketball design on OREO cookies. Let dry and serve.

I love basketball season. My family loves to gather together in front of the TV to enjoy our favorite sport and cheer on our favorite teams. Those candy dipped oreo treats look so cute. They look just like basketballs. My kids would love those!
Such cute basketball party snacks. I think all of your guest will enjoy those. I’ve never had a frosting pen but I think I may need to get one! #client
My family all have their own opinions who is their FAV, but I just follow along for the fun. I cheer on who they cheer on. We usually all fill out a bracket to have fun to see who wins the games. These cookies are SUPER cute and would make a fun edition to our BB spread!
These are sooo Freaking cute!!! My godson is a huge and I mean huge basketball fan and he would love to have these as after school snacks. Thank you so much for sharing I am going to have to make sure that I make some.
I think this post was made for me – I love Coke, Oreos, and watching basketball! This is such a cute yet simple treat. My boys would go crazy for these, I bet they would even want to help me make them.
How adorable! I would totally eat these even if it wasn’t basketball season! So many different possibilities with these candy coated oreos. They are cute for parties and play dates!
My officemate was just telling me about the theme she would like for her son’s first birthday. She chose “NBA” (National Basketball Association) and she plans to have delicious cupcakes and treats also shaped like a ball. This page is definitely helpful for her!
Okay. I’ve seen Oreos dipped in a few things but this is my first time seeing candy!! I like what I see…they look great and like the perfect fit for a sports themed party night. Thanks so much for sharing!
