How dirty do your carpets get? Have you ever really thought about it? You probably don’t want to because it’s horrifying. I’m going to be honest here, despite their seemingly cleanish outward appearance, if you have animals, kids, or any sort of life whatsoever, your carpets are probably disgusting. That does’t mean you’re a slob, or unclean, it means you’re a regular busy person and some things have to take a back seat sometimes. For me, and for a lot of people if they’re willing to admit it, that’s probably my carpets. Of course I give them a pass with the vacuum on a regular basis and spot clean when necessary, but they don’t get that good ole’ deep cleaning that they need often enough. Below the surface, where the dirt and the spills and the pet hair and lord knows what else are ground in and settled, that’s the dirt we’re talking about today.
I have one of those handy dandy home shampoo units, and they’re great for minor spills and stains, but they don’t get the deep down yucky stuff that the big boys do. Those are the carpet cleaners that you usually have to rent. In the past I’ve always rented those big red Rug Doctors and they do a good job. They can be a little pricey but it’s only a few times a year and when you see what they pull out of your carpet, it’s totally disgusting and totally worth the cost to feel like your home is once again clean and healthy and all is right with the world.
This time, out of curiosity we rented both our usual Rug Doctor shampooer and a BISSELL Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine. I’ve heard great things about the BISSELL like the large-capacity clean- and dirty-water tanks mean you get our best deep clean with fewer trips to the sink and convenience is always a big factor for me. The BISSELL Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine also helps remove deep-down dirt fast from carpets with rotating DirtLifter® PowerBrushes that clean in both the forward and backward pass and stay comfortable while cleaning, thanks to the ergonomically designed, adjustable tank handle. The powerful clean you want is now available in your home!
So how did they compare? Well the two separate removable tanks on the BISSELL, one for the clean water and formula and one for the dirty water was awesome. The size of the tanks was perfect so they weren’t too heavy when full allowing the user to easily fill the tank at the sink and pour out the dirty water. Err muh gosh…that dirty water!!! As you can see, both cleaners did an awesome job and pulled up way to much dirt, but as far as ease of use, especially if you’re smaller in stature or just don’t want to work as hard, the BISSELL’s design is definitely the winner there. I should also mention that the rental cost on the BISSELL, at least in our area, is slightly less so that might be something you want to take into consideration as well.

May 31, 2016 at 4:33 pmHi, I’m Julie McWright! I signed up for the carpet cleaning contest on Twitter. It’s the only social media I belong to. I have 2 lab pups you can see on my page and with the rain we’ve been having, they’ve been tracking in lots of mud! My husband just lost his job! The whole office (1600) ppl got laid off! I really could use some clean carpets right now before all our company starts coming for the Summer! Texas is having unusual amounts of rain this year! Well, Thank you for your time and I look forward to further communications!

June 2, 2016 at 6:52 amWith three children, it seems like I can never get the house clean / clean enough. With the summer, they’ll be spending the majority of their time with their sports or at sports camps so I can really dig into the carpets and pretty much everything.

June 5, 2016 at 8:38 amWe have two furbabies and four young kids. With summer looming in our future and the traveling between outdoors and the living room, my poor carpet looks nothing like what we got when we purchased our home. I would love to win this to try to get back what i once had. Plus I love that you guys have done the work testing both! I have tried the Rug Doctor personally and was not impressed. I had a friend that told me about the Big Green and what great results she had. Now that I see your post, I know!
