I’m an Avocado fan. You may have seen my Chocolate Avocado Cupcakes a while back. You’d be surprised at how useful they are, but avocados are often put in a bad light because they are told to have high fat content. But this so-called fat is basically just monounsaturated fat, which is an essential part for lowering your cholesterol levels. It’s also the reason why health conscious foodies often opt to have them as a substitute for butter. Avocados on toast, anyone?
Avocado is no doubt a super-food and it’s incredibly nutritious, providing you tons of nutrients ranging from Vitamins K, C, B5, B6, E, Folate and Potassium. Plus, it gives you a healthy dose of fiber which contributes in reducing your blood sugar spikes. Also, there is evidence pointing out that avocados can help you with weight loss.
Avocados are essentially the star of quick and easy meals because aside from benefiting from its high nutritional value, a lot of people also love its rich creamy texture and its flavor that compliments almost any ingredient. So now that we’ve established that Avocados are pretty amazing, there are still things you probably didn’t know about Avocados. They actually have many uses be it in your cooking, baking, and even for your facial skin care routine!
With that said, here are some unique ways to use avocados!
- For Baking
In baking, avocados are mostly used as a fat substitute like mentioned before. You can almost ditch using oily-ingredients like butter and replace them with avocados instead.

Because of its rich and creamy texture, avocados are also a great replacement for cream if you’re craving for some mousse or pudding-type dessert. Been wanting to have some milkshakes or some smoothies? Subbing avocado for the cream also helps you avoid a lot of unnecessary intake of sugar and fat. You can use avocado for your cream-based desserts and have an equally smooth outcome. No one will be able to know the difference.
- As a Sandwich Spread
Basically, avocados on toast are all the hype nowadays. Just ask any foodie you know about what type of healthy sandwich that you can easily made in under a few minutes. Almost all of them will probably tell you to have avocados on toast on the go because there’s no denying it’s quite easy to prepare. Just spread some avocados on your large toasted bread, add a little bit of tomato or fried egg on top, and you’re pretty much prepared a sandwich that will keep you full for hours.
- Avocado Salad Dressing
Another thing that you probably didn’t know about Avocados is that their high fat content can actually help your body absorb more nutrients from your food. So what better way to take advantage of the benefits being offered by this super-food than to have it as a dressing for your salad? Combining all those veggies together with the fat from the avocado will let your body easily absorb the nutrients from your food, plus, it adds a lot of flavor into your boring veggies.
- Natural Face Mask
Of course avocado is a well-known ingredient for DIY face masks. You can easily create your own natural face mask by whipping up some avocados, and mixing it with either some olive oil or even honey together to be able to create a thick paste for your facial.
- As a Natural Hair Conditioner
Avocado can also go beyond your kitchen. It doesn’t just work as facial mask for your skin. Did you know that avocado can also be used as a natural hair conditioner? Due to its natural fats and oils that have moisturizing benefits, avocados help repair your damaged and dry hair. It definitely works greatly as a conditioner!
