I have not been compensated for this post, however I did receive a complimentary Cricut Explore Air™ 2 and supplies as part of the Cricut Blogger program.
I mentioned last month that I finally got a Cricut Explore Air 2 machine. I was pretty excited because I’ve been wanting one for a while – you know, so many crafty projects and so little time! The initial set up was fairly simple and I had even created my first “test” project (all of which you can read about here). What next though? Well fast forward a couple weeks and I’ve got some big news! I’m in the que to become a LuLaRoe Consultant and my amazing new business will be officially launching in the next couple of weeks! Yay!! Well now I’m on a mission to prepare and that of course includes a lot of DIY projects for this girl! That shiny new Cricut couldn’t have come into my life at a better time!
One of the easiest things I’ve created for this new venture is a vinyl decal in the shape of a unicorn to help decorate one of my storage totes. If you know LuLaRoe, you’ll understand why it’s the perfect fit! What you might not know if you’re unfamiliar with Cricut Design Space, is how ridiculously easy it is to use. I used the app on my phone for this particular project and it literally walked me through every step. Fast, easy, and the result was perfectly magical!
I chose my design from Cricut Design Space by searching under Vinyl projects. If you don’t like what’s there, you can create your own too, but I haven’t designed my own yet – I’m going to try that next! Once you select your design, the information will be sent via bluetooth (if using your phone) to your Cricut and the app will walk you through the steps.
- Place you vinyl sheet on the cutting mat and load into the Cricut. The machine will blink to tell you when it’s ready and you push the button and it cuts your design out.
- Remove the vinyl from the adhesive mat and use the specialized Cricut tools to remove the excess vinyl from the design.
- You’re ready to apply your decal to whatever you want! In this case it was a tote I had picked up for hauling LuLaRoe supplies around and I think it’s cute as heck!
Of course I used my entire sheet of vinyl by simply re-applying it to the cutting mat a couple of times and ended up with 3 gorgeous unicorn decals from one sheet of vinyl meaning I have decals left to apply to anything else that I want in the future!
So to answer my initial question, yes, the Cricut Explore Air 2 is super simple to use. There are more complex projects that I’d love to try, and I will as I work my way up, but regardless of your level of experience, I’d say the Cricut Explore Air 2 has something to offer for anyone that loves DIY and crafts!
