Surprise!! I’m an animal lover. Shocking right? Okay, maybe not that shocking if you’ve followed for any amount of time at all. Our home is definitely pet friendly…both conventional and unconventional ones. Speaking of unconventional, did anyone see the photo of my daughter riding one of her horses…in the house? Welcome to my life!
While they’re a big part of our life, this particular story isn’t about horses though; rather, it’s about cats. If you’re a cat lover I think you’ll agree that while most of the time they’re pretty awesome, there are some challenges that are presented when you share your space with feline friends. For example, we live in the country so our cats serve double duty. They’re amazing lap warmers, but they’re also rodent repellers, which means they are indoor/outdoor cats and come and go as they please. As a result, we have to be flea and tick aware with them just like we do with our dogs. This time of year is prime for making sure you’re preventing these little critters rather than fighting them off. One way we do that is with Catego™.
Catego™ for Cats is powerful flea and tick control and provides effective monthly prevention and treatment of fleas, ticks and chewing lice for cats and kittens. Fleas, ticks, lice…you don’t need those things in your life right? Catego™ is a topical flea and tick preventive so it’s easy to apply thanks to its tube and patented applicator. With just one application, protection lasts for one full month. Yay for easy because this girl right here cannot take on anything more that’s even remotely complicated. Also great news; Catego™ is currently available through Amazon and veterinarians, plus it will soon be available at PetSmart. With so many animals and running multiple businesses, I’m a frequent flyer at all three of these places! Winning! Feel free to check out the Where to Buy section on CategoCat.com if you’re looking for specifics.
Another challenge of living with cats, especially multiple cats, is that they all have very unique personalities and they don’t always mesh all of the time. Cats can become stressed and when they do, there can be issues. That’s where Feliway® and Feliway® Multi Cat come into play. Feliway® is a copy of the natural feline facial pheromone. When cats feel safe in their environment, they rub their heads on household items such as furniture, depositing this pheromone. If you’re a cat owner you know what I’m talking about. I feel like my cats are constantly rubbing, but it’s good to know that means they’re feeling happy and safe, even if it does mean lint rolling the couch a little more frequently. Feliway® helps to keep this feeling of security and may lead to the reduction or elimination of unwanted stress-related behaviors such as hiding, scratching and urine spraying and trust me, nobody wants to deal with that. It can also help with a change in environment such as travel or moving to a new residence as those can be very stressful to cats. Feliway® comes in several forms including Feliway® Spray that can be applied to your cat’s bedding or favorite toy to reduce stress at home and Feliway® Wipes which are ideal for traveling. Feliway® is available through your veterinarian. To find a Feliway® veterinarian near you visit Feliway. com/us/buy.
Cleo here is my rescue. I adopted her as an adult and as such it took her a while to integrate with my other cats. To this day if things get too chaotic (which can happen with 5 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 kids), she’s my most likely to get stressed out. Feliway® MultiCat helps. It is a copy of the natural appeasing pheromone that is produced by mother cats. This pheromone promotes bonding and helps calm cats for better socialization and harmony meaning Cleo is now not afraid to come out and join the rest of the family and even plays with the other animals when nobody is watching. When we first brought her home we didn’t see her outside of our bedroom for months. HUGE difference!! It’s super easy to use because you just plug the Feliway® MultiCat Diffuser into the room where your cats spend the most time. Easy as that!
How many of your are cat owners? Just one or multiple little bundles of love and claws? What’s your biggest kitty challenge and would any of these products improve the relationships in your cat’s life? Let me know in the comments below and thanks for reading!

April 8, 2017 at 12:49 pmWe’ve had at least one cat ever since I got married. Eventually it became two, and luckily the two got along great. Then a friend found a sweet stray and couldn’t keep her (she has two very cat-aggressive dogs while my hounds love the cats). That put us at three, and for the first time, we had issues between the cats. I thought it was my other female, Yumeko, who simply didn’t like the new cat, Moko. After a couple of years, my oldest daughter moved out and I let her take Yumeko with her, figuring it was best for everyone – especially Yumeko and Moko. However, Moko still had issues with our other cat. Then, daughter #2 adopted a cat – putting us back at three cats – and Arata was a high-energy kitten who didn’t know when to stop bothering Moko. Well, just over a year ago, we lost our old boy, and then just after the 4th of July I found a two-week-old feral kitten and bottle fed her until she ate on her own. She’s now cat #3 and the craziest thing is, Moko adores her! I suspect it was because Kotoha was a tiny baby and perhaps Moko’s maternal instincts kicked in. She’s spayed, but she had at least four years before we adopted her and have no idea if she ever had kittens of her own. So, we had peace with the cats for the first time. Then, Moko got sick. She was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and the meds helped, except that she had a really bad allergic reaction to one of them. She’s doing better, but I’m trying to keep her calm. This product sounds like it would be perfect for Moko.
