How to Save Money With Military Discounts + Cash Back

August 30, 2018 by Alison 38 Comments

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Sponsored by Ebates for IZEA Worldwide. All opinions are 100% mine.

Fact: I am very rarely a spontaneous buyer. Now don’t get me wrong, I window shop quite a bit, but it’s takes a lot of research and making sure I’m getting the absolute best deal possible before I actually make any purchases. I work too hard to throw away money and I know you do too so I want to share one of my favorite money saving tools with you.  Now Ebates is a great way to get cashback on purchases for anyone, but if you are from a Military family like I am, then one, thank you for your service, and two, you’ll want to be sure to read on because this is where the magic is at!!!

If you have a military discount, you deserve to use it. What I want to do is make that even easier for you to do, because I know first hand, it’s ofter hard to tell if a company offers a military discount – in many cases actual cashiers aren’t aware of the store policy but by partnering with Ebates, I can help you make the most of that discount with extra savings on top! Ebates gives you Cash Back for shopping at your favorite stores, and if you’re not already a member, it’s free to join. You need to do this regardless because you actually do earn money back if you use Ebates. As you can see below, $173.98  is what I’ve made back so far! The great thing about shopping with Ebates is that you can stack your military discount on top of Cash Back which means twice the savings!! Holla!

What is Ebates?

Ebates is where you can get Cash Back for shopping at over 2,500 stores. There have been very few times a store I was interested in was not on Ebates and becoming a member is free! Basically how this works is stores pay Ebates a commission for sending shoppers their way which is pretty common. But the difference here is that Ebates shares the commission with you as Cash Back rather than keeping it all for themselves. Get paid every three months, plus earn a cash bonus when you join and shop. Founded in 1998, Ebates has paid members over $1 billion Cash Back – that’s nothing to laugh at!

How to use Ebates:

  • Start your shopping at Ebates. You can go directly from Ebates to the store(s) you’re interested in shopping.
  • Shop like you normally would and earn Cash Back. I mean we already shop online, why not reap as many rewards as we can?!
  • Choose how to get paid—PayPal or check. I’m a PayPal girl so every three months I wake up to a little bonus in my PayPal account.

What are military discounts?

Military discounts are given to military personnel and often their family members. These discounts can vary from store to store and some stores sadly, don’t give them at all. Those aren’t the stores we’re talking about here though. Some stores might give coupons to qualifying shoppers, while others may give a percentage off the total purchase amount. Some stores even give perks like free shipping. If you’re interested in a particular store, it’s worth checking to see if they offer a military discount and what type it comes in, as stores set the discounts at their discretion. Make sure you ask because I’ve found that often even stores that offer Military discounts, they’re not always advertised so the only way to know for sure is to ask.

Who qualifies for military discounts?

Many different types of military personnel and a lot of times also their family members qualify for military discounts. You might be able to get the discounts if you’re an active duty military member, veteran, retired military member, reservist or military spouse or dependent. It really depends on the retailer as to whom they allow to use the discount.

How do military discounts work with Ebates?

Like I said, this is where the magic happens because you can use your military discount and earn Cash Back on top of that! To stack your savings, first start at Ebates and click on a store link to take you to the store. The store will prompt you to verify your military status by entering a military ID, dependent ID, veteran ID or another type of military ID. Next, do your shopping using your military discount. Once the store reports your order to us, Cash Back will automatically be added to your Ebates account! Easy Peasy right?

What if a store doesn’t offer a military discount?

As I mentioned, not every store does offer a military discount, but if you start shopping with Ebates, you still earn cash back so you really can’t lose either way! Whether or not you have military discounts, Ebates can save you money on the shopping you’re going to do anyway. Not an Ebates member yet? Join now for free and start earning Cash Back on top of your military discount. You’ll get a $10 Welcome Bonus after you join for free with the link in my blog and place your first purchase of $25 or more! Winning!

Good idea – if you’re PC dependent it’s almost crazy not to have a Desktop and a Laptop (or two…..)

I love Ebates! Even when the percentage cash back is very low, it really does add up.
If I won the gift card, I would put it towards the purchase of a new laptop. My MacBook finally died very recently, and it’s been really tough trying to work without it.
    Thank you,

I’d like to use for getting some walking sandals that are sturdy, and you can wear in the rain. My current ones were really inexpensive, and they are falling apart. I have to walk everywhere, so it would be good.
