Life is often busy and stressful, and when you’re on the go constantly, there are never enough hours in the day to make time for yourself. This last year in general; well year and a 1/2 really since I unexpectedly lost my job of 20 years, has been one of the hardest and most stressful times of my life to be entirely honest. I was not happy and motivated is the last word you would have used to describe me for several months. It was pretty bad, but I’ve realized, that wasn’t fair to me and it wasn’t fair to my family.
If you’re not looking after number even now and then, you’ll start to feel fatigued and low, which could lead to further ailments. I stressed myself into the hospital even. It’s essential to try and make some much-needed time in your diary for self-care, so if this is you, check out some of the best ways to help you stay happy and motivated each and every day. Nothing is guaranteed; but making an effort absolutely helps!
Set goals
If you have something to work towards, you’ll find that you’re more motivated to accomplish your goals. These things don’t have to be large targets; they could just be finishing everything on your to-do list for the day. I’m literally still working toward this every single day; just getting the daily to-do’s done in a timely manner each day. Some days are harder than others, but I’ll tell you what, every time I can check something off, it’s a sense of accomplishment. No matter what they are, each helps you to feel good about achieving them. This small boost of motivation puts you in a better frame of mind to tackle the week ahead.
Visit family and friends
We can often get caught up in our own little bubble, but if you just take a moment to visit your loved ones, you’ll feel an immediate sense of happiness just by being around those close to you. Social media isn’t the same. I thought, or tried to tell myself, that I was keeping in touch with people because I was interacting on social media. But I wasn’t…not really, not beyond superficial engagements and that doesn’t quite have the same impact. Now, sometimes it’s not possible to visit often and you can feel like you’re not doing enough, especially if you have elderly relatives or parents that need some extra care, Actions like hiring long distance caregiving services will help give you peace of mind when you can’t be close by and that can help you stress less and find more happiness in the days as well.
Eat well and drink plenty of water
You’ve probably heard this a thousand times before but eating well, and getting plenty of fluids each day will keep you feeling refreshed and energized for the day ahead. In the morning, why not hold off on the coffee and pop a slice of lemon in some hot water to recharge your system. Coffee can, in fact, make you feel more lethargic after the caffeine hit has worn off so start the day the right way with a healthy, energy filled breakfast and water to flush out the toxins. Now don’t get me wrong, some morning a big cup of joe is all that will work to get the day started, and that’s fine, but don’t rely on it daily and make it your only go-to.
Don’t worry about not fitting it all in
Many people get stressed throughout the day because you’ve not finished everything on their to-do list. Guilty! Whether this is at work or home, you have to remember that you’re just one person and you can only do so much. We can often get stuck into the must do everything mentality, and this is often true in work scenarios. In reality, you can only fit so much in, and you should not feel guilty about doing your best to complete everything. And keep telling yourself that until you believe it.
Take up something new
If you’re stuck in a rut, trying something new could help boost your energy. The challenge of taking on a new sport, hobby, or educational course sparks that drive inside you. A passion for doing well and completing this new venture also broadens your outlook, and could also help you meet new people that are pursuing similar dreams. A change of scenery can be good to spark insight and self-reflection.
Just trying these small things each day could ignite that spark back in your life, why not give them a go and find out! What sparks happiness in you? Let me know in the comments below and thanks for reading!
