You are busy, we know that. You are working hard trying to keep a dozen balls in the air at any one time and you cannot afford to let any of them drop. Trust me, I feel this deep within my core. Whether it’s running around after the kids, putting in extra hours at work or taking care of your relatives, you never seem to get two minutes to yourself. We know that feeling, we have been there. The problem is that it’s not sustainable in the long term and it’s not at all good for you. You run the risk of burning out at some point, so we are here to bring you 3 things to do for yourself today, to refresh and recharge you. We know it is hard to put yourself on the to-do list, but do it, look after yourself, and you will be able to continue being there for everyone else.
Take a breather
Stop and take a breather from time to time. This is hard to do and sometimes tricky to make happen, but if you do, it feels oh so great! Take the day, if you can, just to do what you want to do. But if you cannot manage to take a whole day out, intersperse your week with a few moments that are just for you.
Read a book for half an hour. Take a stroll around your local park. Treat yourself to a cup of coffee from your favorite coffee shop. Browse your local shops, just because. You know the little things that pick you up, that spark some joy and that bring you a little kernel of precious me-time, so think of a few and weave them into your week. You will be amazed at the difference that these few breathers make.
Listen to your body
Whatever our age, we need to slow down every once in a while and listen to our body. Are we pushing ourselves too hard and we need to have a few early nights? Are we finding that we have aches and pains in places that we shouldn’t have? Are we eating the right foods or drinking enough water?
It can be easy to overlook our own health, all of those little niggles, as there is always something more important to be doing. We keep on going and going until our bodies force us to stop and they slam us down with an illness or ailment. It would be so much better if we listened to our bodies before this point, if we took control over it and addressed any problems head on, nice and early.
So whether you are stressed about wrinkles or you are looking to learn more about hearing aids, the key is to pay attention to what your body needs and acknowledge that you need to do something about it.
Try something new
When was the last time you tried something new? Can you even remember? Then seize the day and do it today!
Learning something new is guaranteed to reinvigorate you. It might be an evening class, it might be a course, it might be a fitness class, it might be a new recipe, it might be a YouTube tutorial or it might be a friend sharing a new skill with you. There are endless possibilities with this one and it really doesn’t matter what it is, the point is that you are once again energized and stimulated, which will translate into all other areas of your life. You will give yourself a new spring in your step, enjoy it.
