4 Top Benefits Of Online Study

According to a source in The Harvard Business Review, lifelong learning is beneficial for both physical and mental health. Most of us would probably agree that learning new things can help us to progress in our careers, gain more confidence or achieve higher levels of well being. No matter which career you are in, as the industry and technology changes, it’s helpful to keep on gaining new skills. There are plenty of benefits to be accessed via studying online.

1 . Flexible

Studying online is far more flexible than traditional means, you can study wherever you please, whether at home, at the library or while travelling. Some courses offer content available in app form; perfect for when you’re on-the-go. What’s more, your lectures, seminars and coursework are all digital, so you are not tied to a strict schedule. You can access your materials whenever you please, and re-read or replay content as many times as you need too.

2. Larger range of courses

Studying in a traditional classroom setting means that you are restricted to the options that are within a commutable distance. Unless of course, you are going to university and staying in a dorm. When you are restricted by location, this means that you may have to make a compromise on the specific course that you choose. Online studying eliminates compromises; you can spend your time researching the best course for your particular field- and take that one, no problem!

3. Less expensive fees

Education isn’t generally cheap, but the upside to online courses is that they are less expensive than face-to-face courses. When it comes to degrees, we are talking about a difference of several thousands of dollars, in some cases. You’ve also got to factor in that you’ll be saving on a commute and on paper and printing costs, (because online study is usually paperless and green)!

4. Future proof your career

If you want to future proof your career, it pays to learn all the skills that you can. Employees must respond to changing needs in the market, or look to update their skills to achieve advanced status. For example, nurse practitioners could seek to remain competitive via studying a post master’s certificate in nursing. This option will allow them to access higher salaries, choose a specialization or access academic teaching roles. Regis College offers some great online options for these courses.

For HR Professionals, studying role-appropriate technology courses could help them to develop within their positions. This pursuit is particularly useful because new technologies mean that many traditional HR duties are now automated.

Whether it’s a full-blown degree or a short-course option, online study is undoubtedly an excellent way to conveniently gain some great new skills in a relatively short space of time. You can work at your own pace, and therefore remove the pressure of overly strict meetings and deadlines. For these reasons, you’ll find than studying online equals less stress. When you are choosing to study in a face-to-face setting, consider these benefits and weigh them up against what you will gain with the traditional course.
