A Guide To Keeping Your Mental Health In Check During Lockdown

April 21, 2020 by Alison Leave a Comment

Lock down, quarantine, shelter in place, whatever you call it, it’s shaping up to be a difficult time for many people. Whether you’re locked down on your own or with your family, you’re going to have to face some unique challenges that you likely wouldn’t have had to face before. Knowing how to keep your mental health in check at this time is essential and will do you the world of good. Some of the advice here might seem too simple, but they are worth mentioning as many people are struggling to find any semblance of normality right now. Read on if you want to make sure you’re keeping your mental health in check during lock down.

Journal About The Way You Feel

Journaling is an extremely powerful way to understand yourself and the way you feel – something many people fail to do. When you understand your feelings and why you feel the way you do, you’ll become more emotionally intelligent and self aware. Spending even 5 minutes, or just writing out a few sentences each day can make a huge difference to how you feel. You may even notice some patterns emerging that could help you to feel better in the long run if you work through them.

Schedule Catch Ups With Loved Ones

If you’re on lockdown on your own, scheduling catch ups with your loved ones is very important. Make a family group chat or one with your friends if you don’t already have one. See if you can schedule a zoom conference together, or facetime one on one. You could do this once every few days or once a week, depending on what you both have time for. Even a little text session each day can make a big difference to your wellbeing.

Make Sure You Get Some Alone Time

Now, if you’re in lock down with your family, it could be that you need to make sure you get alone time. Spending time with the people you love is great, but not having any time to yourself is not healthy. Make the most of being able to go out for exercise alone, or even schedule some alone reading/project time. You don’t have to spend every waking moment together, and setting this boundary will give a clear message about what you need to be a happy, healthy member of the family.

Take Self Care Seriously

Self care is not something you should sniff at during lock down. You may not be the best at it any other time, but there’s no better time to get used to it. Take salt baths, make sure you’re using nice products on your skin, pamper yourself – whatever you feel like doing! Drink lots of water, eat your veg, take supplements, and just do what makes you feel good. Remember, this isn’t about being as ‘healthy’ or productive as possible. It’s about doing what you need to do to feel good. If that’s looking for help at ezcbdwholesale.com if you need advice on an anti-stress supplement, or taking an hour long bath each night, then do it!

Try To Stick To Some Kind Of Routine Or Schedule

Sticking to a routine will work wonders and ensure you’re not up watching dog videos at 4am. This will help you to feel a little more grounded, too.
