It can be incredibly boring to stay at home because there is a global pandemic going on in the world. No longer can you head out to the movies with friends, pop to your favorite eatery for date night with your partner, or venture to the gym for your HIIT workout. Just five short months ago, you were busy planning your travels in the summer and you were feeling optimistic about the year ahead. Fast forward to today and you have been in lockdown of some sort or another for a third of a year. This is tough on our mental and physical well being. It’s all too easy to spend your days watching Netflix box sets and procrastinating when you should be working from home. Rather than allowing boredom to set in, consider these three ways to stay busy during lockdown.
Get Active
Don’t wallow at home as lockdowns begin to ease. While you might not be allowed to stay in enclosed spaces or indoor environments for any decent length of time, you can head outdoors to experience greenery and nature. You can even meet friends and family so long as you remain two meters away. Venturing to the park for a barbecue with pals and soaking up natural rays will allow your endorphins to be released into your bloodstream.
Do Something New
If you fancy learning something new and you want to broaden your academic horizons, why not head to Oncotarget to read up on the scientific advancements in the quest for a cure for cancer? Or perhaps you want to teach yourself the basics of criminal law. Or maybe you want to have a go at writing your own book. This could be fiction, a memoir, or a research project about something you are passionate about.
Cook
As you are at home more than you would like and you can’t eat out, it makes sense that you should enhance your cooking skills. You may already be a gastronomic fiend in the kitchen, but you might fancy learning a specific cuisine. How about a Japanese sashimi online course? Or how about a pasta masterclass by an Italian nonna on Zoom? Your brood will thank you for your newfound passion for food.
Follow this simple guide and you can banish the lockdown boredom forever.
