About Me

My name is Alison. I like glitter, good food, awesome gadgets, and tattoos. I’m a coffee addict and DIY junkie.  I live in a tiny rural town in Eastern Washington. By day I’m a commercial lines insurance agent for a large national broker. By night, part-time miniature horse wrangler, thrift shop fashionista, closet sci-fi TV fan, social media ninja, believer in the paranormal, and quasi-doomsday prepper.  (By doomsday I mean when the zombies come I’m ready – anything that may actually happen, maybe not so much!)

I am happily married to a usually patient man who is also a contributing writer on the blog,  and have two amazingly awesome kiddos born about a decade apart; Eli, my teen born in 2002, is an aspiring Ninja/herpetologist/drummer/taco truck owner; and the toddler, Arabella born in 2011, is my very opinionated, blonde haired blue eyed, horse-loving spitfire.  If that doesn’t keep me on my toes I’m also the mommy to several fur-children, Molly, a long haired Miniature Dachshund, Remington a Boxer, Ellie Mae a German Shorthair Pointer, Jack Jack a Red Heeler, and  our little old man, Chico, a Chihuahua, Cleo a 20 pound Maine Coon, and of course, the king of the castle, our once stray now owner of all people and dogs, Domestic Shorthaired cat named Peanut. So, that’s me in a nutshell, jack of all trades and hopefully a master of a few!

If you want to know why I decided to start this blog, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, please read my post Why I Decided to Blog.   If you have questions, would like to partner on a project or would just like to say hello, please feel free to e-mail me at horseshoesnhandgrenades@outlook.com.
