Guess who turns two today? That’s right, Miss Bella Boo! I can’t believe that today is already her 2nd birthday. Where does the time go? I am so thankful that she is in our life…I truly can’t imagine it any other way. (I know every parent says that right?) To be entirely honest with you though, I was not planning on having any more kids after my son. I was totally content being the single mother of an only child. My son, Eli (whom I love dearly) was healthy, smart, and I couldn’t imagine a child that was easier to take care of. (For you horse people out there, Eli was basically and “easy keeper”.) Plus I worked too much and I really wanted to go back to school for my Bachelor’s Degree. It really could only get worse with another baby; or so I assumed.
Then there was a plot twist. It’s a long story but it involves a boy and a girl, the creation of a new, blended family, some changes in my view on life and the path I wanted for my family, and now, after all of that, there’s Miss Bella Boo and I wouldn’t change it for anything. This little girl is growing so fast and she certainly gives her dad and me a run for our money. I’m pretty sure she always will because she has to check out everything that’s going on all the time. She is amazing and makes everyone that comes around her smile because she’s always so happy to see you. Bella teaches me something new about myself every single day. Some days I think my heart is so full I can’t love any more, and she proves me wrong. Other days the lesson involves patience and coming to terms with the fact that red juice and pasta on the carpet is not the end of the world. (Note to self: do not waste money on new furniture for at least 5 more years, possibly longer.) She’s such a ham and I’m pretty sure she’s a genius (okay it may not seem that way when you see her running around with a bucket on her head or fishing her binky out of the toilet but whatever, the rest of the time, pure genius!).
So today, on Bella’s 2nd Birthday, I am going to take some time to enjoy her while she’s still my “baby” because those days are fading all too fast. I’m going to let her have cake for dinner (man that girl loves cake) and get ready for her big My Little Pony Birthday Bash tomorrow with all of her family and friends. And most of all I’m going remember how thankful I am that our family has been blessed with this little ray of sunshine in our life. Happy 2nd Birthday Bella Boo!
