Up All Night With One Direction

 

I received this awesome collection complimentary from Brand Backer to facilitate my review. All opinions however, are 100% my own and based on my experience with the product.

 

It’s no secret, I’m a makeup junkie. I love how it makes me feel put together, classy, or sassy depending on what mood I’m in that day. I love experimenting with it and I can’t resist trying whatever new collection or palette I can get my hands on. If you ask my husband he’d probably say I have too much in the ole makeup drawer, but I don’t think that’s possible. (That’s just one girl’s opinion though.)

 

When I was given the opportunity to check out the Up All Night collection by One Direction, I’ll be honest; I wasn’t sure what to expect because well, it’s a boy band and I’ve sort of outgrown that phase (although I will admit there were a couple that I was obsessed with back in the day!). I thought what the heck though, the collection looks pretty awesome and if it didn’t work for me, I have a niece that thinks One Direction is pretty darn cool. Needless to say, I was impressed once I got the goods, so I’m going to share the One Direction Up All Night Collection with you today.

 

 

Right off the bat when I opened it up I realized that this collection is very complete. It includes a pack of stencils (which the kid in me thinks is pretty darn cool), an awesome eye shadow palette, mascara, nail polish, lip gloss, eye and body crayon, and lipstick. I mean really, there’s not much else you need after all that!

 

The 4+1 eyeshadow palette provides some very bold blues and some lower key neutrals. When I was younger my Aunt always used to tell me that “a girl can never wear too much blue eyeshadow”. I don’t know if I agree 100% but I am kind of partial to blue shadow so I was very excited to try this particular palette out. More Than This is a light pink and Gotta Be You is a taupe shimmery color (have I mentioned that I love sparkly things? Yay shimmer!).  Save You Tonight is a teal or turquoise blue (also shimmery) and  Another World is a bright blue with shimmer.  Up All Night is the sapphire glitter crème. I was blown away with how pigmented the eyeshadows are – I had honestly expected them to be somewhat dull or require an awesome primer to stand out like many shadows do, but I was pleasantly surprised that is not the case.

 

 

The lipstick, I Should Have Kissed You, is cotton candy or bubblegum pink creme (totally one of my go to colors so I was pretty excited about this one!).  The gloss is pretty cool too because well, it has glitter, but under UV light, it glows a neon orange color. Now I’m personally not under a lot of UV lights, but it’s a pretty cool feature and I can definitely see my niece or any teenage ladies loving this! (On a side note, as awesome as glitter is, we all know that it can cause the texture of makeup to be somewhat gritty so expect this if you use the lip gloss…it’s not horrible or like sandpaper or anything, but you can tell.)

 

 

The eye and body crayon is a dark, almost navy blue color called Stand Up. It can be used as an eye pencil but also worked great with the 5 piece stencil set which includes lightning bolt, diamonds, crowns, triangles, and arrow stencils. This makes the collection really fun and different. I can definitely see a sleepover turning into a makeover party with a set like this.

 

 

Little Black Dress mascara, a carbon black volumizing formula, adds definition to any eye look – definitely a makeup collection staple. The quality of the mascara in my opinion is average, not the highlight of the collection, but definitely a bonus to have it included and certainly nothing terribly wrong with it.

 

 

Finally, the nail polish, Na Na Na, is lighter shade of metallic blue nail varnish. I love this color. I only have a couple shades of blue in my nail polish arsenal and none of them have shimmer (which is weird because I am the self-proclaimed glitter queen). I was super excited to try this out! It went on smooth, dried in an acceptable time-frame, and stayed on for a couple days (which is about as long as I go before I change my polish color up). Couldn’t really ask for more.

 

 

Overall, I think this is a great collection if you like bold shades and something that’s just a little bit sassy and different. It would also make an amazing gift for any tween or teen ladies on your gift list for the upcoming holidays. The One Direction Up All Night collection is definitely one worth checking out. The collection will be available beginning today!
