I’ve become quite fond of pallet projects lately (hubby not so much because he’s my helper by default). I love these projects though because they’re relatively easy, cost effective, and you can really customize them to your liking. There are truly so many different things you can make out of pallets that it’s sometimes hard to decide what to do next. Today I’m going to show you how to make a simple, rustic, and functional bathroom organizer out of pallets and mason jars. I love this project because it’s one of the first ones I ever tried and it turned out beautifully (which is code for it was pretty easy and anyone can do it!)
Really all you need for this organizer is:
- 1 pallet (or leftover pieces of other pallets if you’ve done other projects in the past)
- Saw to cut the pieces to length
- Hammer & Nails
- Mason Jars & Towel Ring (optional)
- Pipe Clamps to secure the Mason Jars
- Drill & Screws (to secure pipe clamps to wood)
When we made ours, we had no directions to follow. I had seen a photo (yes on Pinterest), but it was a dead link and didn’t go anywhere. Basically we looked at the picture and just sort of did our own thing. The first thing we did take the pallet apart. We realized we didn’t know what size we needed the organizer to be so we measured our wall space and determined 20 inches wide by 30 inches long would work. (You may want to do the measuring first like you know what you’re doing…like I said, we were winging it.) Then we cut our cross pieces for the top & bottom to 20 inches & cut our planks to run up and down to the desired 30 inches and nailed it all together.

Yes we were working in the dark. in the carport because we’re cool like that – lighting could have been better but you get the idea.
Next we stained the wood and let that dry overnight. We went with a rustic gray color, but there are so many options as far as paint and stain go you really can go with whatever color or style you like. Once that was dry we decided where we wanted the mason jars and towel ring to go and secured the pipe clamps to the wood with screws. I used only three mason jars on this particular organizer & added a towel ring, but you can omit the towel ring, or make your organizer larger & add more jars if you choose — that’s the beauty, you can really customize it to your needs.
Once everything was secure we finished attaching the mason jars and that’s literally all there is to it. Put it on the wall and use the jars to store Q-Tips, Cotton Balls, Make Up brushes, wash cloths, or really anything you choose. You could also stencil something on it and make it a really personalized gift if you wanted. I think our total investment was about $20 on this one and the majority of that was for the towel ring since we had a lot of the necessary items laying around the shop already from past projects. Had we omitted the towel ring, it would have been pretty close to free.
What do you think? Is this a project you’d try? What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever seen made out of pallets? Let me know in the comments below and thanks for reading!
This is a unique idea. I really like how the stain came out, I love grey. I think I will ask my husband to keep an out for some pallets.
Totally impressed. The only palettes I know have eyeshadow in them. I doubt they’d hold mason jars though. I can imagine a lot of beauty products in the jars – q-tips, cotton balls, those little plastic spatulas for creams that get lost all the time!
Very cool, that really has a great look to it!
I love the mason jars! I also love that this up off the counter so it saves space. Super cute!
Yes – the fact that it’s storage on the wall is awesome – we have such smallish spaces in our house that optimizing what we have is soooo important!
This is amazing! What a creative use for these items, especially the pallet. That would normally just be thrown out. I love the rustic vibe.
How creative. I love it. Might have to make one for my bathroom.
Such a great way to use the pallet. I love finding ways to repurpose those.
I think this is an awesome idea, especially for rustic decor. I’d love to try it
Very cool idea!!
I heart this project sooo much! I have so many mason jars waiting for something awesome. Thanks, girl! 🙂
What a cute way to get the bathroom organized! I was just thinking, for a beachier look I could add sand and a tea lite to those jars!
I LOVE this! Need one in my bathroom!
That is a really great idea. I love the look of the mason jars.
What a clever idea! I love anything to do with mason jars, and I admire your saw skills :). Thanks for sharing with Pin Your Friday Favorite.
What a great idea! I love mason jars and pallet wood so this is my kind of project. Have a great week!
What a cute project! I love all things mason jar related 🙂
