Yes…that’s the catchy little tune from the Lego Movie. If you’ve seen it you know what I’m talking about and you were probably singing it when you read the title right? I get that song stuck in my head a lot lately — because well, I have a 12 year old so I’ve seen the movie numerous times. Also because I’ve decided that will be my mantra for 2015.
Everything will be awesome because I will make it that way. I’ve kind of given up on making actual New Year’s resolutions, because I feel like that’s sort of like setting myself up for failure. Life never gives you exactly what you plan for, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have goals and things I want to achieve, sometimes I just have to be realistic and change them to align more with what life is handing me at the time.
This year, my main goal is being more awesome of course and I think the best way to do that is to look for the awesome in everything. That’s pretty easy when things are going swimmingly, but the days that are a little tougher to muck through, that’s where I falter. So its the frustrating days, the ones where it feels like nothing can go right, the kids are bickering, the boss is on your case, the clients are unappreciative, the spouse is grumpy, you have too many deadlines and not enough hours, and you have more bills than money to pay them; it’s those days that I will be challenging myself to find the silver lining, the good, the humor, or maybe a new perspective.
I challenge you to do the same. If everyone ends each day on a positive note, finding at least one good thing that has come about, how awesome would we all feel? How much more could we all achieve because we’d have a more positive outlook? I think if I can remember this even on the worst of days, 2015 will really be a year to remember because everything really will be awesome!
How will you make 2015 the most awesome year yet? Let me know in the comments below and thanks for reading!
