If bodily fluids and and the inability to control them makes you squeamish, I would suggest checking out a different post because today, we’re going to discuss those things. It sounds gross…it kind of is, but it happens. Bladder leakage. Are you middle-aged? Have you had two or more kids?
If you answered yes to both of those questions, and you still claim to have no knowledge of the bladder leakage battle, then chances are you actually listened to your OB and you spent you’re days doing those darn kegels, or you’re lying to yourself. I get it though, it’s embarrassing. I mean heck, we’re not that old right? At least we don’t feel like it…not until we cough or sneeze without warning and end up needing to change our pants. What about exercising, or just having a good laugh…yup, without proper preparation these seemingly positive events can be tarnished by bladder leakage. Do you find yourself sticking with black pants and making sure those legs are crossed if you so much as think you might sneeze that week? Not cool, not cool at all.
Guess what? There is a secret weapon out there to help us discretely fight this battle. Meet Depend Silhouette Active Fit Underwear. I say underwear because that’s exactly what they look like – your most comfy pair of full coverage undies. (You know ladies, the ones that you have shoved in the back of the lingerie drawer because some days you just need comfort over fashion?) Are these first date material? Probably not, but they’re a gold mine during cold and allergy season when all that sneezing and hacking are going on!
You’ll be happy to know that Depend Silhouette Active Fit briefs have a lower rise for an underwear-like look, fit and feel so unless you tell them, nobody will even realize your wearing them. Depend is even offering fashion conscious options by offering the Silhouette in both black and beige colors which is nice because as crazy as it sounds more people with bladder leakage are in their 20’s than those in their 80’s and y’all know a girl likes to color coordinate.
Depend is entering year two of Underwareness, a social movement and charitable cause to break down the bladder leakage stigma and you know what, it’s working. Its not so hard to talk about anymore knowing that you’re not alone and that there is support available and just as important a discreet and effective product to help. I want to encourage you to join in the Underwareness movement and help continue the efforts because if you personally have not experienced bladder leakage, chances are you are very close to a friend or family member who has whether you realized it or not. For every photo and video shared using #Underwareness and featuring Depend products, the Depend brand will donate $1, up to $3 million, through 2016 to fund charities that advance the research and education of bladder leakage.
Just take a moment of to visit www.Underwareness.com to learn more, support the cause and request free samples of Depend Silhouette Active Fit!

April 20, 2015 at 9:09 amI love these new bladder control underpants. I always feel so terrible that bladder issues have such a stigma when a lot of the reasons that women get them come from raising a family – carrying the baby, birthing the baby, problems due to age AND previous births.

April 20, 2015 at 7:56 pmYes!!! It totally doesn’t have anything to do with being “old” – it’s just life and while its one of the suckier parts of life, it’s something that us ladies just deal with because most of the time, it’s because we have beautiful kids to show for it…pretty good trade of right?

April 20, 2015 at 10:27 amI think my Mother in Law is having some bladder leakage and I need to find a way to talk to her about it. I don’t want to upset her.
Alison says
April 20, 2015 at 7:55 pmThat would be a tough convo to start – maybe get a sample sent to her, she’d never know where it came from or get a sample and leave it where she can see it at your house or something and when she notices it you could totally gush about how awesome the new designs are and nobody would ever know they’re not regular undies. It may just be enough to get her thinking or talking.

April 20, 2015 at 5:59 pmWith some things, practicality wins out over pretty. These actually are not what I would have imagined them to look like! They are much more discreet and resemble the rest of the underwear in my drawer.

April 20, 2015 at 6:38 pmHi Alison, I know people feel uncomfortable about these issues – I always think of people in their late 80’s that need them- but, I did have a girlfriend in High School that I loved to make laugh (well I love to make everyone laugh) and she always had issues – and it looks like the styles are a thinner material then what I would expect 🙂

April 20, 2015 at 8:29 pmWhoever thought of this product is a genius! It’s already functional as it is but what makes it more appealing is that it comes in the two most basic ( but staples ) colors: nude and black. It’s great that the makers of Silhouette took these into consideration.

April 20, 2015 at 9:04 pmEven having done Kegel exercises for years, having 2 vaginal births and 2 cesareans (with big babies pushing down on things) leaves things a little loose. So glad there are options available for women that is more appealing.

April 21, 2015 at 8:03 amI don’t see the problem with discussing bladder issues in a public forum. It is a natural part of life that sometimes just happens. They need to be addressed, so why not ask someone for help when you need it? Great post!
