I talk a lot about my dogs. Because dogs are ridiculous, hilarious and always doing something to get themselves in trouble and then sucking up because they know. But cats, they’re an entirely different ball game. They are self-sufficient and let their humans know when their services are needed and lord knows when they say jump, you ask “how high?”. Cats do what they want and lead you to believe that it’s totally acceptable and okay even if it’s obviously not. Cats are sneaky little devils and I adore all three of mine.
Because I love them (and because if I don’t they’ll make my life miserable), I like to keep them happy so whenever I’m at PetSmart (which is all the time — have you seen my zoo?!) I pick up some Purina® Pro Plan® Savor Shredded Blend. As much as they like to nibble on things that they’re not supposed to (ever lost a new plant or flowers to your cat?), I know when I’m feeding them this, they’re getting what they need to thrive.
The nutrition is backed by a team of over 400 scientists including pet nutritionists, veterinarians and behaviorists so I’m can feel confident when I’m filling those food bowls. Plus, I feel like cats have more refined palettes than my dogs do and so far, they’ve not turned their nose up once at this Purina Pro Plan Shredded Blend Salmon and Rice recipe! High protein, optimal levels of fats and rich in antioxidants and omega fatty acids, and evidently delicious? It’s really a no-brainer and a winning combination for everyone.
Beside Purina Pro Plan Shredded Blend though, you know what else you can do to help your cat (safely) savor the moment of Summer? Make a fun little indoor garden out of totally cat safe grasses and plants so that they can nibble away, leave your pretties alone, and you don’t have to worry. Here’s how I created ours:
Supplies
Planter
Potting Soil
2-3 small cat safe plants (I used catnip, cat grass and peppermint)
Directions
Putting your indoor cat garden together is super simple. Just put a layer of potting mix in the bottom of your planter.
On top of that place your cat safe plants. Once you have those arranged to your preference, simply fill in the edges with more potting soil so that all the roots are covered and everything is in snug, but not so tight that air and water can’t absorb into the soil.
That’s all there is too it – place your lovely new garden anyplace you’d like with no worries about your feline friends. In fact you can welcome their curiosity!
If you head over to PetSmart you can pick up the cat grass and catnip and when you spend $15 on any Purina® Pro Plan® product, 5/31–7/5 you’ll receive a coupon saving $15 on your next purchase of 10.5-lbs. or larger of any Purina® Pro Plan® Dry Cat or Dog Food or Litter by 7/31. That’s like getting a second bag for next to nothing! P.S. if you like cute cat photos, Facebook and Instagram are the place to be!
