Our poor Remmington. He’s not that old of a dog, only about 5 years old, but had some joint problems as of late. He limps on his back leg and is just slower getting up and down than he previously was. In fact that sounds a lot like me now that I think about it…but we’re not talking about how old and run down I feel sometimes. Back to Remmy; he’s a very large dog for his breed, not overweight, just solid and I hate to see him slowing down and being sore on a regular basis at such a young age. He’s go many fences left to run and passers by to bark at so I’ve been actively seeking foods or supplements that might help with joint mobility.
I’ve heard all of the great benefits of CBD oils for human use, but I hadn’t really considered it for dogs. It makes sense though so when I heard about Therabis™ I was curious, hopeful, and very excited to give it a try. I mean just look at this face…how could you not want this big guy to be at his very best? Of course my dogs are like my kids and we are very careful pet parents. I don’t just give my kids random things without doing some research to be sure it’s safe and that the potential benefit outweighs any possible negative side effects and I felt that Therabis had the potential to be exactly what Remmy needed to get back to running the fence line and protecting his yard without a worry in the world.
Therabis’ founder, veterinary expert, Dr. Stephen M. Katz, has spent a lifetime researching, developing and perfecting Therabis’ natural formulations, resulting in some unparalleled and specific products. It was comforting to know that the products are backed by 25 years of veterinary expertise and powered by whole-plant hemp oil and the products are designed to address the specific areas that challenge your pet. The daily supplements are super easy to use, you just sprinkle it on your dogs food, and even though our need was joint mobility, there are also formulas designed to help with stopping itching issues, and even one to help calm and quiet pets that suffer from anxiety or other similar issues.
For those of you that are not familiar, Cannabidiol (or CBD) is a naturally occurring chemical compound found in hemp that’s classified as a cannabinoid. Like all other cannabinoids, CBD interacts with your pet’s endocannabinoid system—the central regulatory system known to affect bodily processes such as digestion, mood and sleep. Unlike THC (which comes from marijuana), CBD does not create a psychoactive effect. That’s why it’s becoming quite a popular natural option to help treat a variety of issues for humans and animals alike. Despite common misconceptions, hemp is not another euphemism for marijuana. In fact, hemp and marijuana are two very different plants. Hemp has been bred to fulfill industrial applications like fiber, paper and nutrition, and contains less than .3% THC by law, which is why neither people nor dogs experience a high when they consume hemp-derived products. It’s definitely worth giving it a quick google search and reading up on some of the current findings on the benefits and uses of CBD oils and related products.
As I mentioned, Therabis has three different formulas depending on the needs of your pet. Calm and Quiet is calming care for your canine. Thunder, fireworks, car rides, and separation can cause anxiety in your dog. Therabis’ Calm and Quiet helps to reduce stress levels and keep your dog at his or her social and emotional best for a happier, healthier pet. Stop the Itch is an inspired total skin solution. All dogs scratch, but allergies and hotspots can induce uncontrollable scratching, which is a problem. Therabis’ Stop the Itch was developed to soothe your dog’s itchy skin and comfort chronic itching while promoting overall skin health.
Finally, as they age, joint immobility in dogs becomes more and more common which is what the Up and Moving formula is designed to help with. It help dogs when they have difficulty walking, going up stairs, or jumping and helps promote healthy joints. We’ve been using this formula for almost a month now and have definitely noticed some improvements in Remmington. It took a couple of days for him to get used to the supplement on his food (he’s a pretty picky eater for a dog), but now it’s just the norm with his meal. He still has some soreness and a limp after he’s been running and playing and protecting all day, but it’s definitely much less severe and he doesn’t seem to struggle as much getting up after sleeping or laying down for a while and that alone is a huge win!
If you have a pet that battles with any of these issues, do your research, and see if Therabis hemp-based CBD (cannabinoid) supplements may be the answer your looking for.For more information or to give them a try, visit Therabis’ website.
