While you’re kids are young, you’re teaching them things that they will carry with them to adulthood. This is why it’s so important you teach them the right lessons – as well as show them how they should be behaving with your own actions, as this will make a difference whether they know it or not. Keeping your kids healthy is your responsibility, so below, you’ll find what you need to know.
Cook With Them
Cooking with your kids has numerous benefits. Not only is it great for bonding, you can use this as an opportunity to talk to your kids about healthy ingredients and foods that are good for them. This is not about scaremongering and telling them they shouldn’t eat some foods, or labelling any foods ‘bad’. It’s simply about empowering them to make the right choices when it comes to food.
Exercise Together
Exercise as a family. Walk as much as you can. Exercise alone to show them how important it is to look after yourself. Encourage them to try out for sport’s teams. Be an active family!
Keep A Healthy Mindset
Keeping your kids healthy means a healthy mindset, too. Teach them to look at things as a glass half full sort of situation. Encourage them to list great things that happened to them that day, and things they are grateful for.
Don’t Focus On Bodies
Society as a whole is so focused on body shapes, types, and sizes, and this can cause a lot of problems. To combat this, don’t make comments on your child’s body – even comments you think are nice, such as telling them they look slim. Don’t comment on your own body. It will make a difference.
