As the new year begins, a lot of people want to find new ways to help the world. The Covid Pandemic has forced many to care for their own to staggering degrees of effectiveness and success. Many want to share the good vibes with other countries of the world that are not only facing Covid-19 issues, but other political and environmental issues as well. If you are one of those people who wants to reach out and give the world a big hug, here are five countries who will need your help in 2022.
Ethiopia
Ethiopia is a country that is not only seeing the effects of climate change, but they are also seeing an influx of refugees from other countries. Neighboring countries are seeing a lot of political strife, and as a result, almost one million new people are crossing the borders into the country.
The problem is that climate change has been causing droughts that have been affecting the food supply. When it does rain, it comes in massive amounts on already dry land that are causing an unreasonable amount of flooding. If you can, the basic necessity of food is what Ethiopia needs the most, so donating non-perishable foods to be sent to help those who are hungry is needed.
Australia
Two years ago, just weeks before the onset of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Australia was hit by some of the worst wildfires in history. Animals were displaced, homes were destroyed, and natural lands were wiped out. The pandemic slowed down recovery, but over time, things started to get better and better.
There are still some indigenous charities that could use your help. These charities help the indengious population stay on their feet and continue to thrive on the continent. Any amount of currency will go to helping deal with Covid-19 response and protecting the rights of the aboriginal people who are often overlooked when it comes to receiving help.
Nigeria
Nigeria is facing a lot of conflicts and problems in 2022. Along with political unrest in the country, climate change is also having a huge impact on the lives of the Nigerian population. The changing climate has caused a lot of drought and the loss of a lot of crops, which has caused tensions between farmers and herders.
What’s more, is that Nigeria is having issues with clean water, and what makes this so alarming is that the nation is expecting their population to double in the next 30 years. Donating to clean water charities that can help this growing nation stay hydrated as they work towards peace is needed.
Antarctica
Okay, Antarctica is technically not a country, but it is a continent and place on the planet that needs a lot of help. As global warming continues to melt the polar ice caps, large portions of glaciers are breaking off and falling into the ocean. These pieces are so large they can raise the level of the oceans by significant levels causing coastal flooding and the upending of marine habitats.
The best thing to do to help Antarctica is to put a stop to climate change. Doing your part to make the world a healthier place is where the best work is done. Switching to electric cars and using renewable, clean energy is where it starts. Keeping up with good habits like recycling also helps. By doing what needs to be done to bring the temperature down is what the world needs now.
Your Own Country
We tend to look overseas when the topic turns to helping the world, but you can help the world around you. Your country is a great place to start. Every country is dealing with some sort of devastation that needs to be corrected. If you join a group or create a group where you can come together with like-minded individuals to make life better in your own nation the better.
If you are from countries like Brazil, you can help to save the Amazon Rainforest. Nations like the United States have been seeing wild weather that has caused devastating tornadoes and flooding that has ruined homes and towns and has taken lives. No matter where you are from, someone is in need in your own backyard. If you are one of the lucky nations that is doing okay, reach out and help others who may need a leg up.
It may seem impossible to help, but if you look hard enough, there is always a place to lend a hand.
