Thank you to Sears and KMart and the #ShopYourWay program for sponsoring this post. My love of the Christmas season and dressing my home are 100% my own!
When it comes to decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas, we’re all like little kids in my house. Every single year without fail we pull out about a zillion totes from the garage the evening after Thanksgiving dinner and begin the very serious task of properly dressing the house for upcoming weeks. We always have to add new decor every year because well, who can walk by a holiday shop and not pick up something new…and usually another tote when it comes time to store it all again. This year is especially fun because my toddler just turned three so she’s at that age where all the lights, the tree, and decorations are super exciting. She calls them “her Christmas” as in mom, let’s go look at “my Christmas” when she wants you to look at something on the tree. So stinking cute right?!
Some people have what I call “designer” trees, with a very put together theme and color coordinated ornaments, and boy are they beautiful , but our tree is more of a walk down memory lane if you will. I always put all the ornaments the kids have ever made at school on there, and each year every family member picks out a new ornament for the tree that is specific to them. For my son it’s usually animals (a crystal whale one year) or superheros. My daughter picked out a super cute Sofia the First ornament this year, and for hubby and I, it’s generally something more rustic themed. Of course there are lights….lights everywhere! The multi-colored ones of course because those are so bright, beautiful and fun!
This year we made our annual stop to load up on new decor at the local Sears and Kmart stores. Check out some of the amazing new decorations that I picked up with my $100 Gift Card (and of course I had some Shop Your Way reward points saved up too) – all of them were an amazing value!
To celebrate the uniqueness of this holiday season Kmart and Sears have launched the Best Dressed Home sweepstakes and they are on a mission to find out how people from across the U.S. decorate their homes for the holidays! Between 11/17 and 12/26 be sure to visit the Best Dressed Home sweepstakes website to answer the poll questions and upload a photo of your home decked out for the holidays and you’ll have a chance to win Shop Your Way points. Sixty winners will instantly win $50 in points and one lucky grand prize winner will win 1 million Shop Your Way points. Now that ‘s some serious shopping!!
How do you decorate for the holidays? Do you go all out? Have a theme? Change it up every year? Let me know in the comments below and thanks for reading!

December 3, 2014 at 7:43 amWe usually don’t do a theme. I usually just let the kids do whatever they want with the tree so it’s a kids tree. Totally going to visit.

December 3, 2014 at 9:15 amWe decorate our tree like you do: all the ornaments the kids have made and we’ve collected over the years. It is a lot of fun to see them again! When my kids were babies, we started the tradition of buying them a new ornament every year. Sometimes they are reflective of their hobbies or a place we visited.
