My mother-in-law’s 60th Birthday was just a couple of weeks ago. My wife wanted to make a photo collage for her and as you know, loves rustic decor. We went to several stores looking for what we wanted, but when we found it, super expensive. Now I’m no interior decorator, but when I realized that I have 1/2 the things needed to make this rustic photo display laying around in the shop, I figured we may as well take 20 minutes and make it ourselves.
All we used to make this was a wood photo frame (that we purchased because it was easier then cutting pallets or something to size, but that is also an option), a small roll of chicken wire, a staple gun and staples, and some clothespins.
I simply stretched the chicken wire across the back of the photo frame and stapled it tight.
I added a piece of wire to the top to act as a hanger.
Attach your favorite photos with the clothespins and you’ve got yourself a super trendy rustic photo display. We used our awesome HP Envy 5660 printer and that made printing out photos that friends and family from across the U.S. had texted and emailed so simple. Using the printer app on our smartphones, we could print directly from the phone. With all the things this new printer can do, I think that function may be my favorite – so easy, so awesome. If you’re looking for a budget friendly rockstar of a printer, this is it.
Anyway, this was probably one my favorite homemade gifts we’ve ever made because it was so personalized and of course easy on time and on the budget.
What’s the best homemade gift you’ve ever given or recieved? Let me know in the comments below and thanks for reading!

May 18, 2015 at 4:28 pmI don’t think I have ever made a homemade gift (maybe when I was a very young child). I am somewhat of a klutz–okay a total klutz!! I do like how you put this all together and it looks great. I am sure the recipient loved it!
