We say thank you every day; at least we should. (If you don’t, maybe you should start). We thank people for holding doors open for us. We thank people that serve us in shops or bars. We say thank you to our families for doing things that make our days easier, and we thank our children for the lovely things that they do to make us smile. It’s a very common phrase. But, because we say it so often, it can lose value. Now I’m not saying we should say it less, because we absolutely shouldn’t. However, if you say thank you to someone for holding a door, is the same response appropriate for someone that does something much more important for you? In some situations, we need more than those two little words to show someone how grateful we are. Thank you just isn’t enough and if we can, we need to do more.
Flowers
Saying thank you with flowers is an absolute classic. It’s timeless, it’s elegant and flowers are beautiful. It’s a fantastic way to show someone that you are thinking of them. Ordering online flowers is an easy way to send a message and make a statement. An online florist like Fig & Bloom can help you to say thank you, quickly, efficiently, and in style.
Get Creative
Homemade gifts are often the most appreciated. I’m a DIY girl and I love to craft so this is kind of my jam. When you make something for someone, you don’t just give them your gift. You also give them your time and your hard work. Bake a cake, make a card, or send a homemade craft. There’s plenty that you can create at home that would be a brilliant way to say thank you and make ’someone’s day.
Send a Note
In years gone by, everyone sent thank you notes. Your own parents might have sat you down to write your notes after receiving Christmas or birthday gifts. But, it’s something that is rarely done now that it’s so easy to send a text, a message on social media or an email. Because it’s done less, it’s nice. People like receiving thank you notes and cards because they don’t expect them. Pop a quick note in the post expressing your gratitude, and you’ll make them smile.
Take a Photo
If you do prefer to send a social media message or text, send more than just words. Take a smiling selfie, or if you are thanking them for a gift, take a photo of yourself with it and send it to them along with your thank you message.
Give Them Your Time
In the busy modern world, time is often the most valuable thing that you can give. You might struggle to spend time with your friends and family or find that you only have time for quick cups of coffee after work. Many of us are guilty of canceling plans that we have made because we just don’t have the time. So, if you want to say thank you, your time is often the best thing that you can give them. Arrange to spend a full day together, without distractions. Enjoy spending time together, talking, catching up and doing something exciting, instead of sending a hurried thank you text. This may be the very best way to show appreciation of all – time is something that nobody can buy and nobody can get back once it’s gone.
