How To Stop Limited Thinking

In life, thinking inside the box is perhaps one of the easiest things to do. Of course, that habit is not to be denigrated, as it does have very many uses. You cannot apply your own will or originality to every single situation, as doing so may harm us socially, or prevent us from living smoothly. For instance, you can’t have an ‘opinion’ on how you board a plane and what criteria you must meet. You go through customs, have your bags inspected, and must follow the rules carefully laid out for you before being accepted onto the plane. No one would argue that point.

That being said, it can be easy to ‘go with the flow’ to a fault, and this can be a real problem. Perhaps this is best felt when we internalize limited thinking to a serious degree. For instance, if we have a disability, we may believe that heading on vacation is not something we can do with care and attention, as we may not feel confident asking for extra concessions to help us in this direction. But why should you feel ashamed of that? We’re not certain.

With the following advice, we’ll show you how you can branch out in confidence and self-belief:

Search For Workable Solutions

There’s always a solution to any kind of problem, no matter how difficult finding said solution can seem. For instance, it may be that you feel unable to head to a certain vacation destination due to your lack of mobility, but with electric mobility scooters, taking that beachfront holiday may be something you can once again enjoy. Putting yourself down for something you cannot help may prevent your quest in searching for better alternatives, and this example is case in point.

Believe In Your Ability & Understand Your Rights

Understanding your rights and believing in your ability can be a very powerful duo, especially when applied in an otherwise stressful circumstance. For instance, it might be that at work, you notice that safety equipment is lacking, and your boss is known for aggressively dismissing any need for immediate, restorative investment. Does this mean you should neglect to mention it?

No, it’s in your right to expect standard safety gear. If he responds poorly, this can give you the right context to leave your job and to find gainful employment elsewhere. In this example, that combination of virtue will have helped you avoid months of toxicity and added risk due to the fear of approaching someone higher up the chain than you. When we keep this in mind, even if only to demand our important consumer rights are met, we will prevent other people from taking advantage of us. That in itself can help you avoid limited thinking and its worst consequences.

Connect With Those Who Encourage You

Sometimes, cleaning your social circle can be an essential part of thinking in an expressive capacity. If you hope to be a person who believes in growth and in their own potential, then you need to align yourself with people who feel the same, about themselves, not just about you. This allows you to take their inspiration as your own, and to give them the same optimism. You’d be surprised just profoundly being part of the right social circle can influence your expressive behavior.

With this advice, we hope you can think outside the box in all that you do. What tips do have to help change a limited way of thinking? Let me know in the comments below and thanks for reading!
