Even If You Can’t Get To The Beach… Ways For Couples To Relax (Away From The Kids)

Inevitably, life gets stressful. When we’ve got so little time on our hands and even little time to look after our health we’ve got to remember the importance of downtime. While there are so many different tactics to relax when life gets stressful sometimes we need to get away from the house. When it seems like your partner and yourself are like ships in the night, you’ve got to take the opportunities, wherever you can, to relax together. When there’s a difficult week or you have just not been feeling sane for some time you need to remember the importance of spending time with your partner for the benefit of the relationship and for both of you to calm down. What are the best ways to do this?

A Stay-cation

Everybody is struggling to afford to go far away. When you’ve got kids it seems that you are forever trying to save money only for it to come flooding out of your bank account soon after. A staycation is one of those perfect balances. You have the luxury of getting away from your home for a little bit but you also so can surround yourself with new things, giving you the opportunity to distance yourself from the stresses of modern life. You can pick a staycation anywhere and it doesn’t have to be far away. You can easily rent an Airbnb and find things for you both to do together, or even on your own. Even if your partner isn’t keen on a massage and facials spa they can relax in the pool while you have all the stress taken out of you.

A Date (Even If It Is At Home)

It’s not ideal when you would like to get away from home. But if you need to get away from the kids, send them to the grandparents and have a little bit of quality time, just the two of you. Taking the opportunity to sit down and even enjoy the silence at home can relax you so much. A word of advice before you do this: clean the house! You won’t start to think about all the problems that need fixing.

Have A Lie-in Together

Sometimes running away from the children isn’t an option. But one of the nicest little things we can all do in life is wake up a little bit earlier to have some quality snuggle time before the children run in and start shouting or jumping on the bed. Having a little lie-in together gives you both that opportunity to cozy up which can be all you need! And let’s not forget that having cuddles is scientifically very good for you! Releasing all that oxytocin (the love hormone) will make you feel nice and relaxed

Go For A Walk

When we take the car everywhere we get into such a monotony that going for a walk seems to just shake everything up! Going for a walk, whether it’s out in nature or just around the block, gives you the opportunity to hold hands and get back to the simple things. Going for a walk is a way to get out in the open air, but it is also a nice bit of exercise. Remember, walking three times a week at a brisk pace for 10 minutes is all you need to keep fit! So why don’t you take the opportunity to do it with someone that you care about? Sometimes we all need to get out and have a change of scenery so we can come back rejuvenated. Going for a walk is one of those simple things that can do so much.

Go To A Class

Perhaps you need to get away from the house because there’s too much going on or the place is like a bomb site! And while going to a class might not seem to be relaxing in the traditional sense you can always do pilates which gives you the chance to stretch yourself so you can feel more rested in your body. If you want to do something a little bit different you can go to a meditation class or try yoga which always leaves you feeling loose and light!

We all need the opportunity to get away from home on occasion. And when we don’t have quality couple time, we end up stuck in a routine. We need to take those chances where we can to relax, but also recuperate. Besides, when was the last time you spent any stretch of time together as a couple? You’ve got to take the chance where you can.
