Cleveland, on the other hand, was proud to have had the first-ever traffic light in 1914. The Wright Brothers, inventors of the first airplane, were originally from Dayton, Ohio. The first hotdog, a food that is loved by all, was given to the public in 1900 by Ohio and was invented by Harry Stevens. Furthermore, Cleveland, Ohio, was the first city to be lighted by electricity in 1879. And lastly, maybe most importantly, Ohio became the first state to approve laws that protect employed women in 1852.
