Success – what is it?
The meaning of success in the dictionary is; the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. However to others, it has various meanings, take Churchill for instance;
Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.
— Winston S. Churchill
Asking yourself the conundrum of what a successful life looks like is for most people, a tricky question because it’s often immediately associated with wealth and leading a thriving career or business. However, although a lot of people find success this way, it isn’t by any means, the only way we can lead a fulfilling and prosperous life.
A Continuous Effort
Whether you’ve set your sights on moving abroad to Costa Rica, to practice as a lawyer, or to explore senior home care franchise opportunities or meet your soulmate and make lots of babies, a tried and tested way to acquire what you want is by continuously making an effort. Through triumphs and failures, making an effort, and enjoying the journey of working towards your goal is the most valuable part of leading a successful life. Equally, getting back up from knock-backs is apart of your success. Why? You might ask. Well continuously trying to fulfill your aspiration shows strength in character and presents a life without regret.
“There are two types of people who will tell you that you cannot make a difference in this world: those who are afraid to try and those who are afraid you will succeed.”
— Ray Goforth
Purpose And Priorities
As mentioned, to begin with, success means different things to different people. To some people, it’s about changing their lives from rags to riches and living a fruitful life with luxury and financial security, and there’s nothing wrong with that. For others, it’s about raising a happy, healthy family and making an effort to keep your family safe from harm’s way. It’s essential to hold your values, morals, beliefs, and passions close to you when you think about what success. This will save you from becoming jaded by other peoples interpretations of what counts as a fulfilling life.
The point to make here is, successful life is how you define it. Whether taking glory in simple pleasures, being true to yourself or making an effort when it counts to you. Some of the typical traits people tend to attain are making an effort to make healthy choices, to build wealth, to strive to live a happy, positive life, to raise a family and to see the world. But this doesn’t necessarily mean that this is a success to you and that’s okay.
“Try not to become a man of success. Rather become a man of value.”
— Albert Einstein
Whether you’re questioning how you have lived your life this far, or want to revisit whether you have accomplished what you set out to do, take comfort in knowing that success is defined by you not anyone else, and only you can decide what is and isn’t a successful existence.
