Our dogs, all five of them, yes five, are a huge part of our family. I can’t remember a time that I didn’t have at least one dog ever since I was little. I can’t imagine not having dogs – what a boring life that would be. Since our dogs are so important to us, it’s also important that we keep them healthy, feed them right, and spoil them often.
One of our favorite treats to make when we want to do something special is Strawberry Banana Peanut Butter puppy popsicles. (Because they’re pups no matter how old they are right?!) The dogs love them and they’re super healthy – the kids can even eat them if you make them without the dog food bits.
Ingredients
Strawberry Banana flavored Yogurt (3 small containers)
(3/4) Jar creamy peanut butter
Handful of your dogs favorite food (we used Merrick Classic)
Additional Supplies
Cupcake Tin
Cupcake Liners
Mixer
Directions
In medium bowl combine yogurt and peanut butter until mixed thoroughly.
Add dog food bits and combine with yogurt peanut butter mixture.
Place 3 tbs. of mixture into each cupcake liner. Makes 12.
Freeze for 1-2 hr. until solid, remove liners and serve to your anxiously awaiting pups!
We used Merrick Classic dog food in theis recipe because the brand has long provided dogs best-in-class natural nutrition from a wholesome balance of protein, whole grains and fruits and vegetables. There’s none of that “filler” stuff that your dogs don’t need. Merrick Classic recipes have even been improved over time to offer an even more palatable and easily digestible mealtime experience for the Best Dog Ever! (Yes that’s your fur-child of course!)
Merrick Classic dry recipes start with real deboned meat as the first ingredient to provide leading levels of quality protein, and also include farm-fresh fruits and vegetables like carrots, apples, blueberries, peas and more. Recipes also feature a healthy blend of healthy ancient grains like quinoa. I absolutely love that Merrick Classic recipes are cooked in the USA in Merrick’s own kitchens, with no ingredients from China and even better, these foods contain no potatoes, corn, wheat or soy ingredients. Honestly, that’s hard to find in an affordable dog food any more! Currently my herd is enjoying the Classic Real Lamb + Green Peas Recipe with Ancient Grains. The first five ingredients are: deboned lamb, lamb meal, peas, brown rice and barley. If you didn’t know it was a dog food recipe, you might use these same ingredients for a well-balanced meal for yourself!

These are so cute! What a fun idea, I’ve never thought of making my own dog treats before. I don’t currently have a dog but my good friend does and I feel like these would be a great gift!
This is the best doggy food I have ever seen and if it wasn’t for the dog food I would quite happily tuck into this delectable concoction. It looks amazing!
I have always considered myself a dog person even if I don’t own any dogs personally. They are delightful and loving and that’s what makes them so precious to have. The treats are awesome, I love that you make treats for them instead of just buying one off the shelves.
I had no idea dogs could eat things like this! I would have assumed they couldn’t have all of these things lol Clearly I don’t own a dog and my cats can’t eat anything 😛
That is awesome. Strawberry Banana Peanut Butter dog treats. I never thought about making treats for the dog, but that looks like it would be a lot of fun to try. I’m not sure if the dog would get all the treats though. The kids like stuff like this and I could definitely see the dog getting shortchanged!
