IFor those that have got a dog for the first time, those people will automatically feel happier. After all, who can’t smile when you are in the company of the happiest animals on the planet? And when you have the happiest pet in the world you may think that you don’t need to do anything else to keep them happy. But there are little things that we can all do just to give them an extra sense of happiness in life. With this in mind, what can we do for our dogs?
Keep An Eye For Changes In Mood
If you are new to having any sort of pet, it may take some time for you to notice a change in mood, especially subtle ones. It’s a good idea if you don’t really have much of a clue if there are major changes in mood to ask for advice. The great thing is that there is plenty of suitable dog advice out there such as Jennifer Perusek’s animal care blog, and sometimes it can be quite a subtle art to notice if they have changed. A lot of the time it can be to do with their enthusiasm having waned but it’s a good idea for you to be a bit more on the ball generally.
Giving Them Time To Swim
Swimming is something that every dog loves to do. But while we can’t take them to the local swimming baths why don’t you get them a baby pool that they can paddle around in? Giving them exercise is all well and good but when you’re trying to give him something a little bit more, especially during hot weather, get them a nice kiddie pool so they can go and cool down.
Give Them Back Their Animal Instincts
You might not like the idea of them completely ripping their toys to shreds but we have to remember that in order for animals to stay sharp they have to exercise their animal instincts on occasion. The way we can do this is to let them destroy their toys. It’s a way to help them keep their faculties sharp. And if they destroy their toys they could very well be giving you a hint that they are fed up with them anyway! This will give you the opportunity to buy something different!
Compliment Them!
Much like us, dogs absolutely love compliments. Hopefully, you are already giving them some compliments but it’s important to note that every dog thrives on compliments and various sorts of positivity. If you let your dog know every time they’re doing something great it could motivate them to keep doing it! You have to remember that if you give compliments and love to dogs they will just give us more back.
Keeping a dog happy in one way is very simple; we just have to feed them, exercise them, and shelter them, but we’ve also got to make sure that they are keeping themselves sharp but also that if we put more in, emotionally speaking, we will get more out.
